Following a club restructure in 2024, Roe Green Cricket Club Limited (RGCC) is now a registered charity (Charity Number: 1208821). This status allows us to claim Gift Aid on qualifying donations, helping us to raise additional funds at no extra cost to you.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a UK tax relief that enables charities to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated, provided the donor is a UK taxpayer. This means your contributions go even further in supporting the club.

To enable us to claim Gift Aid on your contributions, you simply need to:

  1. Be a UK taxpayer – You must pay enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount we claim.
  2. Complete a Gift Aid declaration – This is a simple form confirming that your donation is eligible

What donations qualify for Gift Aid?

We are able to claim Gift Aid on:

– General monetary donations
– A portion of membership fees (specifically, our Full, Junior, and Ladies membership types)

By signing a Gift Aid declaration, you allow us to claim this extra funding from HMRC – at no additional cost to you!

What do you need to do?

  1. Fill in the Gift Aid declaration form (linked below) and specify the relevant donation amount for your membership type:
    • Full Playing Membership – £75
    • Full Non-Playing Membership – £55
    • Intermediate Membership – £45
    • Youth/Junior Membership – £40
    • Ladies Membership – £10
  2. Email your completed form to membership@roegreencc.com.

That’s it – we’ll handle the rest!

For help with the claim process, or for any queries, get in touch at membership@roegreencc.com and we’ll be happy to advise.

Higher Rate Taxpayers

If you pay higher (40%) or additional rate (45%) tax, you can claim back the difference between your tax rate and the basic 20% rate on Gift Aid donations.

How to Claim

  • Include it in your Self Assessment tax return
  • Ask HMRC to adjust your tax code

Example

  • You donate £100
  • The charity claims Gift Aid, increasing it to £125
  • At 40% tax, you can claim back £25 (£125 × 20%)

Payroll Giving vs. Gift Aid

With Payroll Giving, donations are taken from pre-tax salary, so no extra tax relief is needed.

Claiming Tax Relief Sooner

Gift Aid relief is usually claimed for the previous tax year, but you can claim for the current tax year if:

  • You want relief sooner
  • You paid higher rate tax last year but not this year

Deadlines

  • Claims must be submitted by 31 January after the tax year ends
  • Donations cannot exceed four times the tax paid in the previous year

If you do not file a tax return, request a P810 form from HMRC and submit it by 31 January.
